About Us – Alan & Matthew

After a career in the woodworking aspect of the photoengraving industry in the 70’s and early 80’s, Alan took a position with a large architectural woodwork company  in the Chicago area.  He has worked on projects for many of Chicago’s major corporations, law firms, museums and restaurants.(See 1)

For over fifty years he has worked extensively with a variety of machinery, large and small.  He has extensive knowledge of the working properties of hundreds of hardwoods and veneers (See 2) making him somewhat of a know it all in this field. He has exhibited in high end craft and art shows throughout the country. (See 3)

Alan is smart, well read, funny, highly opinionated, friendly, organized, persistent, charming, honest and imminently interesting to be around.  He is married over forty-two years, to the same woman, Beverly.

His current obsession is a line of products made from some of the world’s most beautiful hardwoods.

Alan is an avid cyclist, skier, hiker and photographer.

Matthew

My son, Matthew has been involved working with wood since his teenage years and like myself his interest has grown with age. Matthew is fascinated with the designs and products we are able to create using a variety of woods. Together we focus on a small segment of products that give us great satisfaction. We both love what we do and it is our hope that purchasers of our woodwork will find pride and happiness in the beauty of fine craftsmanship of our products.

It is our goal to offer beautifully made usable and artistic products in a variety of hardwoods. All our designs are 100% made by the two of us.
